U.S. Xpress Solving Truck Driver Shortage

With record low unemployment, the U.S. trucking industry is facing a critical shortage of drivers. This scarcity has created a capacity crunch for freight companies, driving up costs for shippers, which ultimately gets passed on to businesses and consumers.

While many companies are offering increased pay, signing bonuses, and enhanced benefits packages, one firm is going above and beyond in their efforts to attract and retain drivers by launching the first college scholarship program of its kind in the trucking industry.
President and CEO of U.S. Xpress, Eric Fuller, has announced the U.S. Xpress “Full Ride” scholarship program, which will offer the company’s 9,000+ drivers and their dependents (aged 17 – 26) the opportunity to earn their college degree online, at Ashford University, at no cost to them.
